Summer Cargo Business Development Intern

Job Summary:

The Canaveral Port Authority conceives, builds, operates and maintains one of the busiest cruise ports in America. The diversity of CPA's businesses creates a variety of opportunities for students to gain exposure and work with a first-class public agency. The CPA Internship Program offers graduate and undergraduate students an opportunity to work side by side with knowledgeable and experienced experts within their field of study. As an intern with the Canaveral Port Authority, the intern will be challenged by hands-on work assignments related to their major. Through their work, the intern will develop skills that will help in almost any career, such as how to write effectively and how to work well as part of a team. During the internship, the intern will have a variety of opportunities to interact with senior management, as well as with other interns, to broaden understanding of agency and maritime operations.

Essential Functions:

CPA may provide students an opportunity to gain work experience inshore based fields such as the following: Cargo Business Development, Communications & Government Affairs, Engineering, Environmental, Harbormaster, Human Resources/Rotating, Information Technology,Operational Excellence/Process Improvement and Emergency Management & Preparedness.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Candidates must be enrolled as either a graduate or undergraduate student at an accredited College or University
* Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Successful candidates will be self-starters with excellent communication, research and applicable technical skills

Physical Requirement:

* May involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (20-30 pounds)
