Intern Maritime Academy Student

Emergency Management

(Winter Internship)

Job Summary:

The Canaveral Port Authority is looking for an Emergency Management intern to assist the Emergency Manager in the planning and development of the program. Individual will assist in crisis management activities, disaster preparedness initiatives, and the development of emergency plans and procedures. Qualified individuals should have an understanding of emergency management, experience in NIMS and ICS, knowledge of the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP), and possess outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.

Essential Functions:

CPA may provide students an opportunity to gain work experience inshore based fields such as the following: Emergency Management, Engineering, Environmental and Human Resources/Rotating

Minimum Qualifications:

* Candidates must be enrolled as either a graduate or undergraduate student at an accredited maritime academy
* Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Successful candidates will be self-starters with excellent communication, research and applicable technical skills

Physical Requirement:

* May involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (20-30 pounds)
