If you are looking for an engaging, fast paced environment and the chance to join an audio All-Star team, this role is for you.

What You'll Do

* You will help further the Center of Excellence for Plantronics acoustic and audio technology, maximizing sound quality within the price and manufacturing constraints of the product specification
* You will identify and adapt design approaches and system designs to fulfill requirements established by the Company
* You will play a critical role in consumer electronics audio system design, establishing specifications, developing and improving headphones, earphones, speakers and other family devices.
* As part of the Audio Systems Team, you will recommend alternative solutions as necessary to product development cross functional teams, gathering input from senior personnel along the way
* Provide technical guidance & training to contract manufacturers on specific test methodologies and applications
* You will cultivate effective relationships with Audio Systems, QA, Firmware, DSP, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, & Industrial Design colleagues, as well as outside vendors and contract manufacturers

What You'll Bring to the Table (Education and Technical Requirements):

* You have a BS / MS in Acoustic (or Mechanical, Electrical, or Interdisciplinary) Engineering and 0-3 years experience as a design engineer or project engineer with a manufacturer of consumer, professional, or "pro-sumer" electronics. The ideal candidate also has experience in installed sound solutions and traditional speaker system design. That said, new graduates are also welcomed to apply that have a strong interest and intern or lab experience in acoustics and/or audio
* You will be able to gather input from team members when you need to consider performance requirements, verification and validation strategies, design/system constraints and trades-offs, and propose viable recommendations when challenges occur
* You must be able to balance pre-product development research tasks and short- term actions within the product development process as a member of the team
* You can demonstrate the ability to work openly and collaboratively with internal associates and external vendors
* You should have exposure and/or coursework to the following areas, with enhanced specialization in at least two: headphone/earphone design, Room acoustics, consumer audio solutions, speaker tuning, transducer design, in-ceiling and/or plenum-rated designs, and certification and/or design in consideration of UL, CE, FCC, and ESD
* Nice to have: Foreign Language skills in Spanish or Mandarin

Your Personality:

* You are passionate. Persistent. Creative. An attitude of "no problem is too big to be solved and no problem is too small to be ignored"
* Your bias is towards action and as a result, are comfortable with making mistakes (and quickly addressing them) in the learning process as you develop
* Excited by exploring new opportunities and working through the phases of investigation, definition, implementation, and production of new products that help people focus and communicate in new and better ways
