Job Summary:

The Accounts Payable Assistant Supervisor is responsible for providing direction and mentoring the day to day functions of Accounts Payable staff and therefore must possess strong communication and leaderships skills as well as the ability to resolve workplace issues effectively.

Job Duties:

* Supervise small team of Accounting Assistants.
* Reviews, codes, scans and processes incoming invoices, incoming revenue, cash receipts, outgoing JIB invoices, outgoing revenue and tax payments.
* Prepares journal entries and uploads information into appropriate automated accounting system.
* Prepares monthly reconciliations to the General Ledger (GL).
* Resolves inquiries from vendors, purchasers and non-operators regarding payments or statement discrepancies.
* Processes all adjustments as appropriate.
* Prepares monthly management reports.
* Assists with special projects.
* May prepare more specialized reports with compilations from various accounting systems.
* Reviews and analyzes production data for accuracy and assists in problem resolution.
* Emphasis on preparation of production reports going to state agencies
* Reconciles and prepares variance reports.
* Ensures accuracy of reports prior to submission to management and/or regulatory agency.
* Assist Accounting Supervisor with various projects.
* Consolidates and analyzes various complex reports for accuracy; may incorporate into other databases to develop additional reports for management review.
* May serve as back up to Accounting Supervisor.


* Bachelor's degree preferred, high school diploma or equivalent required.
* 5 years of experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and/or general accounting required.
* 2 years of prior supervisory experience required.
* Industry experience preferred but not required
* Good understanding of accounting (AP) practices and computerized accounting systems.
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
* Intermediate level Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and some Access).
