Job Description

SCHEDULE: 15-20 hours, 3 days a week


The Volunteer Programs and Advancement Assistant Northeastern University intern will assist with a variety of administrative, program, and other related tasks that will support a busy team coordinating volunteers and donor service events throughout all of the shelter programs. Additionally, the intern will be expected to answer phones, communicate via email, update records, set-up and oversee volunteers, lead tours and work with staff from various departments. The intern has the opportunity to work closely with both teams and offer support in a variety of areas.


* High School Diploma or GED
* Strong computer/Microsoft Office skills/knowledge
* Strong oral and written communication skills
* Ability to sit for long periods of time
* Ability to climb stairs and move around in a timely manner
* This position may involve some heavy lifting

About Pine Street Inn

Pine Street has offered job training and job readiness programs to homeless men and women since 1990. These programs provide participants with the skills needed to succeed in the journey back to employment. Guests participating in these programs gain both specific job skills as well as skills needed for success, such as budgeting and time management. The inn's courses teach students the importance of punctuality and attendance, effective communication, following directions and procedures, neat personal appearance, problem solving and teamwork. Pine Street provides separate living quarters for its job trainees, who work closely with counselors to stay substance-free, secure employment, and obtain permanent affordable housing.
