Job Description

Campus/Location: University Park Campus Date Announced: 05/03/2019 Date Closing: open until filled Job Number: 87623 Work Unit: University Libraries Department: Development and Alumni Relations

Description

The University Libraries Development and Alumni Relations team is seeking an enthusiastic undergraduate student for the fall 2019 and spring 2020 semesters. This paid internship is made possible through the Marie Bednar Libraries Internship Program Endowment. Full-time juniors and seniors "exhibiting academic excellence" are eligible. Students with an interest in outreach, fundraising, communications, event planning, and/or marketing should apply. A few projects for this academic year include: planning and oversight for Giving Tuesday, updating the endowment web pages, drafting content for the monthly eNews emails, and assisting with donor outreach and stewardship. The successful candidate can expect to work comfortably in a friendly, dynamic office environment, attend relevant meetings, and interact with volunteers, donors, students, and other University Libraries stakeholders. Excellent communication and written skills, creative thinking, and attention to detail are essential as responsibilities include preparing correspondence, social media strategy, research, website updates, and possibly graphic design work. At the conclusion of the internship, the Bednar intern is required to prepare a brief written report and present a 5-minute lightning talk that summarizes their work. These reports are shared with Marie Bednar, the endowment donor, and included in the University Libraries' permanent records. The student hired for this paid position may work up to 20 hours per week. Taking the 400 level internship course (up to 3.0 credits) is optional. To apply: Complete the online application, upload a cover letter, and upload a resume.
