The Department of Electrical Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University (PSU) is seeking a highly qualified individual for an Assistant Research Professor position. The candidate will be expected to fulfill electromagnetics and antenna design responsibilities for current and future high-profile research contracts in the Computational Electromagnetics and Antennas Research Lab (CEARL) and may also have the opportunity to teach undergraduate courses in the department. The PSU-CEARL http://cearl.ee.psu.edu/ is world-recognized for its pioneering contributions in electromagnetics, particularly in the areas of antennas and metamaterials. The research projects will entail everything from theoretical conceptualization to simulation, fabrication and testing. Required Qualifications: U.S. Citizenship; M.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering; familiarity with Antenna Design. Desired Qualifications and Experience: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering; familiar with antenna testing methods and RF test equipment (e.g. Network Analyzers, Anechoic Chambers); experience with Ansys HFSS, FEKO, and/or CST Microwave Studio; familiar with manufacturing techniques such as CNC, 3D printing, and injection molding in order to bring electromagnetics designs to the prototype phase; familiarity with SolidWorks or other CAD programs for design-for-manufacturing; fabrication experience (hand tools, power tools, mills); printed circuit board design; high power radio frequency design. Responsibilities may include: Design and fabricate (via local machine shops and manufacturers) prototype metamaterials and antennas; final assembly, fabrication, and testing of prototype metamaterials and antennas; may involve travel to off-campus facilities; teaching undergraduate electrical engineering courses; prepare and/or publish conference proceedings, journal articles, and periodic research progress reports; participate in proposal writing and visits to potential sponsoring agencies.
