The Student Farm at Penn State is now offering paid opportunities for current Penn State students interested in working and learning with the Student Farm in our third growing season! Visit studentfarm.psu.edu to learn more about the program. Student farmers are the ambassadors to the farm and with our community partners. Work will be August 20-November 1, 12-15 hours/week and approximately 8 hours per week through end of semester, and possibility of continuing into spring semester. Essential roles include ensuring that safety, produce quality, and a fun work environment are maintained among co-workers, volunteers, Student Farm Club members, and community members and courses that may visit and work on the Student Farm or at partner farms. Student farmers will learn about and manage farm production, harvesting, marketing, community engagement, produce donations, volunteer management, event planning, and more. Previous experience in relevant fields is welcome, but not as necessary as the motivation to learn and contribute to a positive work environment. Work is primarily outdoors, with some computer-based work including record keeping and blog writing. Will drive a university vehicle as needed.
