PeaceHealth is seeking candidates for a  Guest Services Manager role at St. John Medical Center in Longview, Washington.  This is a full-time exempt position that oversight of the communication department, volunteer services, conceirge, gift shop and our terrace espresso bar.   Two years managment experience, as well as experience in healthcare, retail, hospitality, or other related business, and a Bachelors degree are all required.


Manages the coordination of the activities of Guest Services with responsibility for results including costs, methods, and staffing.  Responsible for operational performance, quality, service environment and regulatory compliance.  Receives assignment in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.  May oversee Volunteer Services.  Ensure that assigned operations and caregivers provide positive, accurate and timely transfer of switchboard telephone and public announcement information.


  1. Provide human resource management of staff and/or volunteers including recruitment, interviewing, hiring, coaching, counseling, mentoring, evaluating, recognition and disciplinary action when indicated. Collaborate with others to provide department orientation, staff development, training and competency achievement.
  2. Provide direct leadership by ensuring the efficient and effective operation of assigned departments in compliance with hospital standards and federal, state and local laws. Develop, implement and apply department policies and procedures. Ensure safety and risk management guidelines are implemented and practiced.
  3. Facilitate caregiver and/or volunteer participation in department meetings and activities to ensure ongoing communication, achievement of department specific performance improvement initiatives, customer satisfaction and problem resolution. Establish and facilitate team building within and between departments, using appropriate communication channels.
  4. Provide financial/resource management by assisting with budget development. Monitor staffing, scheduling, make corrections and approve caregiver’s and/or volunteer timecards, productivity parameters and charge and expense activities to achieve budgetary compliance.
  5. Monitor telephone statistics for each operator. Review recorded overhead pages.
  6. Provide excellent customer service by monitoring parked vehicle statistics for each parking attendant and ensure that vehicles are promptly parked and owners' keys returned to the vehicles owner. Respond to and seek resolution of problems and concerns from patients, families and physicians using collaboration and problem solving techniques. Ensure that all assigned equipment is functioning on a daily basis and report needed repairs as appropriate.
  7. Communicate and support organizational philosophy, mission and values.. Function as liaison for interdepartmental interactions.
  8. Coordinate and maintain volunteer schedules and assist departments with service requests for volunteer personnel.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.



Bachelor’s degree required 


  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience required.
  • Specialized training with PBX equipment preferred.
  • Experience with non-profit organization volunteer programs is preferred.

  • Broad knowledge of organization.


  • Work requires fairly light physical exertion up to 33% of the time. 
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 30 lbs. or less.          
  • Work is performed under normal working conditions with adequate lighting and ventilation.  Reasonably anticipated exposure to blood and body fluids. 
  • Duties require the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail (more than 65% of work time).
