PeaceHealth is seeking an experienced perinatal RN for a .8 FTE position on the Mom-Baby unit at Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield, Oregon.  Join our 36 bed Mom-Baby unit at our Baby Friendly Certified hospital, working  8 hour evening shifts, 32 hours per week.

JOB SUMMARY

Provides professional nursing direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards.  Promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families and all members of the care delivery team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care needs.
  2. Documents patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
  3. Directs and delegates care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
  4. Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
  5. Participates in the development of and maintains established hospital policies, procedures and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention program.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:     

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing required.
  • BSN or current enrollment in a BSN program preferred.
  • Additional education in acute care perinatal nursing preferred.

     

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:              

  • Minimum one year acute care nursing experience within the last four years.  If acute care experience does not include perinatal nursing, 200 hours of perinatal clinical experience in the last four years is required.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred

     

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Current Oregon Registered Nurse licensure. 
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required at date of hire.
  • NRP and AWOHONN Fetal Monitoring strongly preferred.

OTHER SKILLS: 

  • Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family centered work environment
  • Able to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy and procedures
  • Basic computer skills
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.

SHMC-RB PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work requires active physical exertion up to 66% of the time      
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 80 lbs. or less.      
  • Work requires frequent exposure to minor cold, heat, poor ventilation, or sharp instruments; reasonably anticipated exposure to blood and body fluids once per month or more.
  • Job duties frequently require intense concentration or attention to detail (34-65% of work time).        
  • Job duties may require use of additional PPE such as eye shield, respirator, and mask.
