Job Description

Req ID: 151690

Ever been to the Pacific Northwest?  See why everyone is moving here!

Nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Cascade Mountains and perched on the north bank of the Columbia River sits a unique blend of Pacific Northwest flavors known as Vancouver, Washington.  From the area's natural wonders, to the region's laid back dining culture, one thing is for certain, this burgeoning suburb of the Portland Metro area has a personality of its own!  Here, PeaceHealth Medical Group is seeking outstanding Trauma/Acute Care Surgeons for Southwest Medical Center.

Why you’ll love the practice:

  • Join an established, growing team of 8 dedicated Trauma/ACS Surgeons and 4 PA’s with plans for expansion to a full complement of 11 Trauma Surgeons and 6 PA’s.
  • Shift based reimbursement with 12 hour shifts.
  • Trauma/ACS team members who have a vast knowledge base and daily opportunity for collaboration on patient care.
  • Our Trauma Service is among the top performers in the State based on trauma registry data with one of the highest rates of unexpected survivors based on ISS.
  • We do not have an elective general surgery practice, but there are plentiful opportunities for assisting in elective General Surgery, Thoracic Surgery and Vascular Surgery cases if desired.
  • No research requirements, however for those who wish to pursue clinical research, there are available projects.

PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center:

  • 450-bed regional and community, not-for-profit medical center.
  • Washington State Level II trauma designation.
  • Two 24-bed ICUs.
  • 2,000 trauma admissions annually.

What you’ll love about Vancouver:

  • Robust, independent city with the additional advantage of being part of the Portland, Oregon metro area.
  • Downtown Vancouver is only 9 miles from downtown Portland, 90 miles to the Pacific Coast, 80 miles to the ski resorts at Mt. Hood and 160 miles to Seattle.
  • Outdoor lovers will enjoy quick access to the historic Columbia River Gorge, Pacific Ocean, Mt. Hood, Mount St. Helens, and never-ending outdoor recreation options in the Pacific Northwest.
  • The metro area has world class cuisine, wine, and beer which are mostly locally produced and sourced.
  • Washington State does not have a state income tax.

Become a member of this physician-centric practice, and never compromise the values that brought you to medicine:

  • Well trained and congenial colleagues
  • Enthusiastic support staff
  • State-of-the-art facilities
  • Accomplished, accessible specialty physicians
  • Competitive compensation with robust benefits package
  • EPIC EMR

Qualifications and experience:

  •  Board Certified in General Surgery and BE/BC in Surgical Critical Care
  •  Surgical Critical Care Fellowship trained
  •  ATLS Certification
  •  Washington State medical licensure (or ability to obtain)
  •  2-3 years of experience preferred
