PeaceHealth is seeking a Nurse Practitioner - Behavioral Health (Relief) for a per diem, Day shift position. 

PeaceHealth is seeking Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioners (and Physicians) who would be interested in providing relief coverage on a part-time basis.  This is a position that would allow you to have a flexible schedule while still providing service to those in need.  Work with a team of 3 physicians and 5 nurse practitioners.

PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center provides comprehensive specialty care for more than 250,000 patients a year in southwest Washington. SWMC has 450 beds and is a Level II Trauma designation.

JOB SUMMARY
Within scope of practice and in alignment with both hospital staff bylaws and PHMG's physician supervision expectations, responsible for advanced level of nursing evaluation, clinical assessment, prescribing and monitoring medications and follow-up care for patient. Responsible for patient and family teaching.  Responsible for comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, mental status examinations, and consultation for/to medical patients.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Effectively identifies, evaluates, and addresses disease prevention and health promotion issues of the population in the practice while administering quality patient care.
2. Works in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the medical staff and other community providers which allows for consultation, collaboration, or referral.

3. Coordination of care with other outpatient physicians, counselors and community care providers.  Coordinator of mental health care needs with their medical/physical care as needed.
4. Gives directions to nursing and other staff.
5. Prescribes medications and treatments and ongoing medication management.  Orders lab and diagnostic tests when appropriate and interprets test results.
6. Educates patients and/or families about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications.
7. Maintains legible, accurate, and confidential medical records.  Documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatment, outcomes, education, referrals and consultations according to established standards.
8. Analyzes new knowledge gained from conferences, workshops, professional literature, or “hands-on training” and assimilates this knowledge into clinical practice.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:
MN or MSN with Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing specialty.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
Three years psychiatric nursing experience (or equivalent education and/or experience).
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

    Washington State Nurse Practitioner license or ability to obtain.
    Basic Life Support (BLS) and Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nursing (CNS) Certification (PMHCNS-BC) or Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) Certification or Family Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).


OTHER SKILLS - Preferred:
Five years strong psychiatric-mental health experience. One year experience as an advanced practice psychiatric-mental health nurse. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Controlled Substance Registration Certificate.
