PeaceHealth is seeking a Occupational Therapy Assistant - COTA for a per diem, Day shift position.


Administers individualized therapy under supervision of the Occupational Therapist.  Provides supportive care of chronically ill and/or disabled clients to enhance skills of daily living, cognitive perceptual motor abilities and muscle functioning.


  1. Carry out therapy plan of care for clients.
  2. Work collaboratively to ensure successful delivery of daily programming for all clients, by assisting with mobility, nutrition, personal care and activities as available.
  3. Measure and document performance status and other findings as appropriate.
  4. Train staff and clients in safe techniques for transfer, ambulation and use of assistive devices.  
  5. Function as primary caseworker for assigned participants to develop and implement individual care plans and goals in conjunction with the RN Care Manager.
  6. Document client participation, progress and changes in condition weekly and as needed.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.



  • High School Graduate or Equivalent required
  • Two year Associate Degree preferred
  • Continuing education to maintain current knowledge and skills.


  • Previous experience working with disabled and/or elderly individuals preferred.


  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Washington State Food Handler’s permit
  • Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant required.


  • Expert knowledge of wheelchairs, walkers, canes, transfer and rehabilitative techniques
  • Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with individuals and groups, including staff, professional colleagues in the community, older/disabled adults; and family members
  • Responsive to special needs and demands in a respectful and compassionate manner
  • Demonstrates positive problem-solving skills and collaborative interdisciplinary approach.


  • Work requires active physical exertion from 34 to 65% of the time.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing 80 lbs. or less.          
  • Work is performed under normal working conditions with adequate lighting and ventilation.  Reasonably anticipated exposure to blood and body fluids.  Duties require the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail (more than 66% of work time).     
  • Provides patient care in an uncontrolled home environment; operates motor vehicle on urban and rural roadways up to 25% of each day.
