Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Are you interested in utilizing your architectural background to assess Federal facilities? Parsons is supporting the government in upgrading its security systems on a multi-year contract. Our scope of work consists of managing the design and construction of the new security systems at multiple facilities nationwide.

Under general direction of a licensed Architect or Engineer, visits project sites to take measurements of interior spaces and creates/updates AutoCAD drawings based on these measurements in the office. Works with Construction Managers to assist with Space Planning, as needed. Requires a working knowledge of architectural and/or interior design standards, practices, and techniques. The architectural designer at this level is capable of performing most moderately-complex project assignments with minimal direction. 5+ years of related AutoCAD/architectural experience. We anticipate roughly 30% to 40% domestic travel will be required. Little to no travel will be required during weekends.

This position is based in Denver, CO. Please note that relocation assistance is not available at this time, so local candidates are strongly preferred. An initial government security clearance will need to be obtained before starting work, which typically takes between 2 to 3 weeks. Anticipated start date in late June.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Produces AutoCAD drawings, layouts, and construction documents for a variety of architectural or interior design tasks from general design information in accordance with established standards, procedures, and client requirements.

Visits project sites to take measurements of the interior space and existing security devices with laser or by hand.

Creates/updates AutoCAD drawings in the office based on the field measurements.

Utilizes technical manuals to ensure compliance with required codes and standards. Provides technical guidance to the team.

Compiles data and performs dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings and design layouts.

Prepares and issues detailed construction drawings and specifications, as required.

Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Interior Design (or equivalent) is required with 5 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree and 3+ years related experience. Completion of NCARB Intern Development Program required. Enrollment and completion of related course in licensure track is preferred.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

Requires working knowledge of architectural and/or interior design standards, practices, and techniques, as well as a demonstrated proficiency in sketching, rendering, model-building, and presentation drawing. Proficiency in CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with architectural and interior design is also required.
