ASSOCIATE ENGINEER - ROAD & HIGHWAY DESIGN - JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA

OPPORTUNITY:

The Parsons Jacksonville office is seeking an entry-level engineer to join a collaborative and growing team of roadway design engineers and technicians. Typical project assignments involve performing a variety of engineering tasks in accordance with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) design procedures, standards, and specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Following applicable FDOT design standards, utilizes Microstation Geopak V8i Open Roads Technology tools for modeling and design of FDOT roadway projects.


* Assists in preparing design documentation including computations and estimates.


* Provides input and technical guidance to CADD Designer/Drafters, and lower-level Engineers.


* May assist in drainage design utilizing Geopak Drainage, ICPR, ASAD or HEC-RAS.


* May assist with signing and pavement marking, signals, lighting, ITS and electronic tolling analysis and design.


* May assist in reviewing shop drawing submittals and performing technical bid analyses.


* May assist in the development of specifications and other construction documents.



REQUIREMENTS:

* 4-year degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university, and at least 0-2 years of roadway design experience utilizing FDOT and AASHTO design requirements and guidelines.


* Candidate must be eligible to obtain an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate and FL PE.


* Prior experience using MicroStation and GEOPAK and understanding of the engineering preferable to design a roadway is a plus.


* GIS experience and traffic signals, lighting, ITS and tolling systems design is a plus.
