Assistant Office Engineer - Bridge Construction Projects

Parsons is one of the world's largest transportation planning, engineering, and construction firms. We have an extensive portfolio of diverse transportation projects including bridge and tunnel, road and highway, rail and transit, and aviation infrastructure. Parsons expertise encompasses all phases of transportation engineering operations - from the initial planning stage through final design, construction, and commissioning.


Parsons is seeking an Office Engineer to support a 10-year Construction Management/Construction Inspection service contract for the PANYNJ George Washington bridge projects.


The Office Engineer under the direction of a Resident Engineer, serves a variety of roles including cost measurement, evaluation and audit of Contractor / Consultant payment applications and variations, ROM estimating for infrastructure / facility works, post award contract management including risk analysis and claims, cost controls, scheduling, and other activities supporting the planning, execution and delivery of the program.

The Office Engineer will:

* Capture, monitor, analyze, report and recommend on assigned program data.
* Develop reports and presentations
* Attend technical and coordination meetings, prepare agendas and minutes of meetings.
* Participate in construction site quality, safety and progress reviews
* Participate in value engineering assessments.
* Support the Resident Engineer in carrying out activities to contribute to the overall Program Management effort.
* Assist with project controls on the project (scheduling, reviewing invoices, document control)


* Bachelor's or minimum of an Associate's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar certification.
* Experience working on transportation projects is preferred. Some experience or knowledge of bridge design or bridge rehabilitation projects is preferred.
* 3-5 years of experience in infrastructure projects in an office engineer or assistant office engineer role required, performing similar functions as listed above.
* Experience working on NYSDOT and/or NYCDOT projects preferred.
* Excellent written and oral communications skills.
* Must be a self-starter and able to work productively and efficiently within a large team environment.
* Capable of adapting to demanding project conditions
* Ability to adapt to new situations and to react objectively and expeditiously to critical and emergency construction, operation, or engineering problems
