PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Magnet Program Manager is responsible for managing the ANCC Magnet program in the Parkland Center for Advancing Professional Practice (PCAPP) department. This includes advancing nursing excellence and ANCC Magnet standards and philosophy in support of professional practice, nursing research, evidence based nursing practice, education and shared leadership.

MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS

Education:

* Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) and Master's degree in Nursing (MSN). A Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (PhD) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is preferred.

Experience:

* Must have a minimum of three years of clinical experience
* Must have two years project management experience.
* Must have three years of progressive management experience.
* Research and/or Magnet experience preferred.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience:

* May have an equivalent combination of education and experience to substitute for both the education and the experience requirements.

Certification/Registration/Licensure:

* Must have current, valid RN license or temporary RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing; or, valid Compact RN license.

Tests for Placement:

* Applicants must pass (85% or above) Dosage Calculation Exam prior to hospital orientation. Current Parkland employees requesting reassignment to role must have current Dosage Calculation Exam on file.

Skills or Special Abilities:

* Demonstrated leadership abilities and excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
* Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in working with a diverse population of physicians, patients, nursing staff, management and administration.
* Demonstrated ability to work with interdisciplinary teams.
* Ability to demonstrate ANCC Magnet and Pathway to Excellence philosophy through coaching and mentoring.
* Must demonstrate knowledge of Parkland mission, policies, structures and procedures.
* Must demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.
* Must embody the American Nurses Association (ANA) professional standards of nursing and Code of Ethics.
* Must demonstrate knowledge of assigned department operations including policies, personnel and budget management.
* Must be innovative and willing to ,think outside the box,.
* Must be diplomatic, flexible and detail oriented.
