Healthcare Security Site Supervisor Full time, salaried position in Pgh. Experience preferred.

As an essential member of the Healthcare team, the Healthcare Security Site Supervisor provides services to hospital personnel, vendors, patients and visitors, performing a wide range of security and safety functions, the purpose of which is the protection of Medical Center property, personnel, patients, and visitors, enforcement of hospital guidelines, and service to both Medical Center staff and customers. Participates in activities to assure that customer satisfaction results are consistently maintained. Demonstrates effective communication and public relations skills regarding routine patrols, visitor and employee screening, de-escalating situations without injury to patients, visitors or staff; monitors campus area and properties to detect and prevent fire, theft, vandalism and intruders; maintains records/logs, documents rounds and prepares incident reports; assists with unloading of patients, escort of visitors about the hospital after hours and assists with the transfer of high-risk patients; escorts personnel to and from parking lots; logs in lost and found property and properly secures such; maintains constant contact with base and other security officers. 

Typical Duties & Responsibilities: 

• Ensures adequate staffing; may authorize officers to stay over until appropriate staff relief arrives; assigns all manpower as needed; 

• Advises Account Manager and Regional Manager (designees) of disciplinary problems, guideline violations and conflicts involving officers and Medical Center or outside law enforcement of any incident that needs his/her immediate attention; 

• Responsible for investigation and incident reporting; oversees investigations and ensures they are conducted as soon as possible to include pertinent facts being recorded; prepares incident reports on completion of investigations; writes accurate incident reports and documents investigatory steps and results; uses objective data and clear, concise language in all reports; demonstrates ability to interview a wide variety of individuals using a courteous and unbiased approach; files reports in timely manner; 

• Maintains proper documentation, and files written documentation including Daily Journal, Daily Log, Parking Tickets, etc., in a timely manner; ensures documentation is correct, concise, clear and complete; Writes forensic incident reports that comply with rules of discovery, insurance investigations and other Medical Center requirements; 

• Responds to emergencies and calls for service; response to emergency calls is accomplished in a timely manner and handled with professional demeanor and courtesy; 

• Operates detection devices to screen individuals and prevent passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas; 

• Inspects and adjusts security systems, equipment or machinery to ensure operational use and to detect evidence of tampering; 

• Monitors and adjusts controls that regulate building systems, such as air conditioning, furnace, or boiler; investigates and reports faulty equipment, machinery, alarms, sprinkler systems, etc.; 

• Personally briefs relieving Shift Supervisor or designee of all information occurred on or before respective shift; all information includes, but is not limited to: follow-up and/or investigation to continue should be properly documented and relayed to appropriate personnel; ensures all security/safety incidents are logged with Account Manager, case numbers assigned and recorded in Daily Activity Journal; 

Minimum Requirements: 

High school diploma or general educational development equivalent. Some college preferred. Two years in law enforcement, military police, hospital or industrial security or currently employed in a Hospital Security Officer II position. Ability to lift 100 pounds. Working knowledge of computers, including MS Word. Minimum typing speed of 30 word per minute. Valid driver’s license. Must be licensed as a security officer/guard with the applicable state licensing agency. Must be 21 years of age or older.
