Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Electrical system operation and oversight, developing and issuing switching orders, monitor system alarms and dispatch trouble calls.

 

  • Monitor and control the electrical system and alarms, issue holds, clearances and assurances, operates computerized systems (ie. SCADA, CADOPS, etc.) prepares and executes switching orders, maintains accurate logs, provide analysis and recommended restoration procedures for power outages and performs dispatching duties as assigned.

 

Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without an accommodation.

Requirements

Minimum   Previous experience as a subtransmission dispatcher in local 57.  (for internal only)                   

Working knowledge of substation apparatus, protection schemes and protection zones dispatch and field work practices and procedures for issuing assurances, holds and clearances on electric utility facilities. 

Familiar with accident prevention manuals and applicable OSHA regulations pertaining to operation of transmission and distribution facilities.   

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Skilled in development of switching orders and a demonstrated understanding of protection schemes.  Previous field experience as a journeyman lineman.    

Preferences

·         High School Diploma or equivalent

 

·         Previous experience as a transmission dispatcher (3 years minimum).
