Job Description

General Purpose


Purchase equipment, materials and services through the review of approved material requirements and specifications, evaluation of proposals, and negotiations with vendors/service providers.  Develop and maintain network of suppliers to ensure timely purchases and deliveries.


  • Authorize purchases on behalf of the mine.
  • Assist with developing and planning purchasing strategies. 
  • Purchase warehouse stock and direct-buy materials to support mines as assigned.
  • Apply and implement identified domestic and international sourcing procurement procedure.
  • Negotiate costs and services contracts with vendors to ensure the mines receive the best price, terms, discounts and delivery on all purchases.
  • Ensure all purchases are made in accordance with company policy and guidelines.
  • Maintain network of suppliers to ensure timely purchases and deliveries.
  • Monitor, track, and reconcile invoices to ensure timely payment and discount opportunities.
  • Work with end users as necessary to ensure appropriate purchase decisions.
  • Maintain and facilitate working relationships with vendors critical to the mines.
  • Monitor expediting report to ensure materials purchased meet required delivery date.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic knowledge of supply chain methodologies, models, and procedures.
  • Teamwork skills to develop and promote cooperative working relationships within and among departments.
  • Ability to maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with the use of personal computers including spreadsheets and word processing applications.


  • One year of previous supply chain experience.
  • Working knowledge of coal mining materials, equipment and operations.
  • Previous experience with Oracle.
  • Basic knowledge of contract law and the Uniform Commercial Code.

Hiring Range: 48,800.00 - 62,100.00
