Job Description

Summary:

To assist the Distribution General Manager in all aspects of fresh food distribution functions on a daily basis to drive results and ensure efficient operations. Responsible for assisting in the direction and management of all departments; primarily focused in Sales and Purchasing and equipped to provide leadership support to Warehouse and Transportation teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties include but not limited to:

* Be a role model in projecting and applying The Pacific Group Diamond Philosophy (Productivity, Quality, Excellence and Teamwork) and promote teamwork at all times.
* Assist in directing and managing all operations with responsibilities for production, maintenance, quality and other production-related activities.
* Assist to develop and control profits, plans, and budget for the efficient use of materials, machines and team members.
* Manage capital asset maintenance.
* Assist in establishing and monitoring overall performance for production and quality standards.
* Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight and repair expenses.
* Under the direction of the General Manager, assist to coordinate production, distribution, and warehousing in accordance with principles, policies, and procedures established by the company and all regulatory agencies.
* Ensure tools and resources are readily available.
* Assistance with the coordination of company safety policies to eliminate unsafe behaviors and accomplish zero injury goals.
* Assist in establishing high standards for managers by providing assignments that showcase performance and provide growth opportunities with regular feedback.
* Provide leadership, training, direction and development to staff members.
* Ability to perform effectively within budgetary guidelines.
* Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
* Ensure that all personnel comply with Federal, State and company safety rules and regulations through periodic inspections of machinery, equipment, personnel activities and working conditions.
* Attend weekly management meetings.
* Assist in inventory control - balance and keep track of perishable items.
* Perform other duties, as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises team members in Distribution. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to successfully perform the job.

A. Education and Experience

Required:

* Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; and five years related experience and/or training.
* Experience as a Department Manager within Food Distribution.

Preferred:

* Management experience in 2 of the 3 following areas: Sales, Purchasing and or Operations.

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

* Valid Driver's license.
* HACCP trained

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

* Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time.
* Knowledge of Word and Excel.
