Job Description : We're a team of computer scientists making big, complex data useful through new computational methods and solid engineering. We create analysis algorithms, and deliver software products into our users' hands. We work with partners across PNNL - atmospheric scientists, modelers, and domain scientists - to create solutions for our customers' hardest analysis challenges. This assignment will focus on reprocessing efforts and the downstream effects due to reprocessed data which includes: modify existing software
help with creation of tool kit for improving processing
create new software
port old software to meet new standards
process and reprocess data
Minimum Requirements : Candidates must have received a Bachelor's degree within the past 24 months from an accredited college or university. Minimum overall GPA of 2.5 required. All staff at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory must be able to demonstrate the legal right to work in the United States.
This position involves contributing to and developing software for enabling data analysis. The incumbent will create new visual technologies and techniques to help users draw insight from complex data.
Specific responsibilities include:
Build relationships and work effectively with domain scientists and practitioners across the laboratory to develop and deliver new software products.
Interact regularly with funding clients, through both oral and written communication
Work across domains and the sciences, to integrate visual analytics concepts into domain applications.
Solid understanding of standard software development processes
Qualified candidate will demonstrate: Experience in C and the UNIX/LINUX environment
The ability to write data reports concisely and clearly.
The ability to work effectively independently and in project teams.
Experience with Matlab and IDL is highly desirable
