Requisition Summary

Seeking energetic, independent engineer with interest in creating, defining, and launching the next generation of industry-leading trucks.  Primary responsibilities will be working within the PACCAR organization to develop fuel economy simulation capabilities using AVL CRUISE and MatLab/Simulink and providing Peterbilt Management with directional input through the position of Fuel Economy Property Owner.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

Fuel Economy Simulation responsibilities will be developing, validating, and utilizing vehicle level fuel economy simulation models.  Scope of work will include collaborating with other simulation engineers, obtaining physical component data for model development, validating simulation output to physical testing, conducting simulations for new product R&D and customer support to ensure superior customer satisfaction related to fuel economy and drivability, and generating associated documentation.

Fuel Economy Property Ownership responsibilities include researching and analyzing new technologies as potential future product features, defining and maintaining a roadmap of vehicle- and system-level targets, facilitating discussion and monitoring progress of fuel economy related activities across the organization, and authoring and maintaining product definition documents and sign-off standards.

Skills / Competencies

  • BS in Engineering or related field required; MS in Engineering or related field and PE license preferred
  • Programming AVL CRUISE and Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow required
  • Conducting data analysis and generating graphs/charts using Excel, MiniTab, Tableau required
  • Excel VBA and pivot table experience preferred
  • Diesel powertrain related experience preferred
  • Experience in Technical writing required – manuals, reports, procedures, standards
  • Ability to present to Sr. Management and lead others through non-direct reporting roles
  • Competent with personal computer software such as word processing, databases, and spreadsheets.
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A) or desire to obtain preferred
  • Six Sigma experience preferred
  • Candidate should be willing to make use of engineering processes and techniques and be resourceful in solving complex technical problems.
  • Self-directed and motivated with demonstrated ability to use good independent judgment and effective decision making skills in leading product evaluations
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to manage workload with flexibility and initiative to respond to shifting time and demands
  • Excellent technical and verbal communications skills
