PACCAR Engine Company's $400 million engine manufacturing and technology facility in Columbus, Mississippi began production in late 2010.  The 12.9L engines produced at the Mississippi plant will be PACCAR Engine Company's most fuel-efficient and highest-technology diesel engines.  PACCAR Engine Company is excited about this superb site and the opportunities it provides to PACCAR Engine Company, our customers, dealers, supplier partners and the people of the State of Mississippi.

Requisition Summary

This role is responsible for coordinating product change projects for the Materials Department. This role will serve as a liaison between the different departments within the organization ensuring successful project implementation while minimizing implementation costs.

Job Functions / Responsibilities


  • Coordinate the successful implementation of new projects
  • Monitor and track project new part release
  • Analyze and propose optimal implementation dates for new parts
  • Coordinate implementation dates with planners and suppliers to ensure on time delivery to assembly
  • Ensure new part availability
  • Review and ensure requirements are adequately reflected in Bill of materials
  • Review and ensure SAP is accurately calculating requirements
  • Ensure requirements are successfully transmitted to supply base
  • Generate E-buys for project parts
  • Develop strategies to minimize surplus and obsolete parts related to project parts
  • Build safety stock banks when necessary
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Purchasing and Quality to set up new parts in the system
  • Coordinate with other Divisions
  • Coordinate new part implementation with Material Handling (packaging, returnable containers)
  • Monitor, track and report project milestones and readiness
  • Support all material related activities associated to the project
  • Track and monitor S&O exposure
  • S&O mitigation strategies (return to vendor, rework, sales, etc)
  • Develop metrics to monitor project progress

Qualifications & Skills


  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5+ years of Materials Planning Experience in MRP/ERP environments
  • Supplier Management Experience
  • Education/Training Desired: MBA preferred, Black Belt certification
  • Language Skills: Preference given to fluency in Dutch, German, Spanish, or French
  • Advanced computer literacy is required with functional knowledge of MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Access
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of advanced systems and database management
  • Product knowledge
  • Experience working with high performance work teams
  • Project management experience (1-2 year minimum, PACCAR experience is a plus)
  • Functional knowledge of MRP/ERP systems
  • Working knowledge of SAP in Planning and Material Handling
  • Candidate must be able to operate independently and with little guidance
  • Must be a positive contributor to a team environment required
  • Candidate must be self-motivated, well organized, flexible and able to handle the pressure of a high-volume operation
  • Ability to work flexible work schedule - shift may need to be earlier from time-to-time to support expediting parts from European Union supply base
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Six-Sigma, Kaizen, and/or continuous improvement concepts, Six-Sigma Green Belt Or Black Belt training certification Preferred
