Requisition Summary

The SRT Service Engineer will work with a team responsible for developing and maintaining troubleshooting procedures including but not limited to diagnostic step-by-step instructions and standard repair times (SRT) for technicians. Service procedures provide a foundation for vehicle repairs and training curriculums. The SRT Service Engineer will work collaboratively to gather required background information from multiple engineering departments within PACCAR and with PACCAR’s broad supply base to generate procedures that technicians can easily follow. Position requires initiative to set goals, achieve results and must be a self-starter. Prior experience working in a dealer service environment a plus. Must have strong written communication skills.  

Job Functions / Responsibilities

• Create and maintain procedures for diagnosing and repairing class 7-8 trucks including diesel engines:
• Review MX engine and aftertreatment troubleshooting guides to identify gaps
• Review Chassis, MX engine and aftertreatment troubleshooting guides and recommend changes when better repair methods are determined
• Produce specifications for the development of needed specialty tools
• Provide information to engine support center and dealer training staff on new diagnostic and repair procedures
• Communicates with PACCAR engineering to ensure standard repair times and procedures align with product requirements
• Address repair plan gaps from SRT studies
• Communicates issue and/or project status updates to stakeholders in various levels of the PACCAR organization
• Lead and/or participates in continuous improvement initiatives including cross divisional workshops

• Completes other assignments as requested by management

  

Skills / Competencies

Associate's degree required. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

•Thorough knowledge of the theory and complexities of automotive technology, care and operation of internal combustion engines
•Strong electrical and electronic backgrounds
•Strong understanding of on-board diagnostic system and aftertreatment system
•Solid mechanical aptitude
•Familiar with MS Office
•High level of initiative and demonstrated use of proactive problem solving approach
•Excellent communication skills
•Must be able to work with a diverse set of stakeholders and manage multiple tasks concurrently
•Previous automotive/dealership hands on experience and/or manufacturing experience/product knowledge desired
•Familiarity with MX engine and aftertreatment troubleshooting and guided diagnostics required
•Familiarity with the Service Rapido tool preferred
•ASE Certification desired
