PACCAR Silicon Valley Innovation Center

The new PACCAR Silicon Valley Innovation Center, located in Sunnyvale California, will focus on identifying and advancing emerging technology research and development for all of PACCAR’s businesses. 
Requisition Summary
The PACCAR Silicon Valley Innovation Center is looking for an ambitious and self-directed Data Engineer!  If you have a proven track record of excellence, we are looking for you!


Job Functions / Responsibilities

• Collect and manage data from onboard vehicle systems.
• Build high-performance algorithms, prototypes, predictive models and proof of concepts. 
• Apply sound statistical and quantitative methods to explore and prepare datasets for programing and modeling.
• Research, build and evaluate data-driven products including forecasters, recommenders, classifiers, language processors and other statistical and machine learning-based solutions.
• Consult with a wide variety internal and external customers on project goals. 
• Communicate insights to customer and leadership teams.
• Work with large and small data sets; unstructured, sparse, fragmented and dispersed over multiple sources.
• Develop data set processes for data modeling, mining and production. 
• Design the platforms that will deliver data products in a usable format.

Skills / Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering or other quantitative field required. 
• Master’s degree preferred. 
• 5+ years of experience in advanced analytics, forecasting, statistical modeling, signal processing, or other technical analysis domains. 
• 2+ years machine learning experience; NLP, supervised/unsupervised, classification, regression. 
• 2+ years of experience in Python. 
• SQL and API data ingestion. 
• Strong communication skills; ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Hadoop/Spark ecosystem expertise desired. 
• Familiarity with cloud computing (AWS, Azure). 
• Experience in product development. 
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Results oriented and a willingness to grow personally and professionally.
