Job Description

Works as part of a team responsible for implementing major component specifications including Engines, Transmissions, and Axles.  Interacts with multiple suppliers, engineers, operations, and other departments to define specifications that meet application guidelines.  Maintains bills of material and selection logic integrity.  Processes Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) to support implementation schedules.  Effectively manages multiple work requests and balances competing priorities to complete assigned tasks.  Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement in day-to-day activities.

 

Duties:

  • Maintains Database for Engine, Transmission, and Axle part number generators
  • Understands and utilizes technical data sheets from suppliers
  • Communicates part specifications to engineering, materials, plants
  • Investigates and responds to inquiries in timely and professional manner
  • Interacts with suppliers and their databases
  • Answers and creates Requests for Engineering Information (REIs)
  • Creates and maintains bill of material and selection logic as required to support major components for KW truck production
  • Generates and/or maintains compatibility messages
  • Documents work per standard work procedure
  • Participates in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Completes other assignments as requested by supervisor

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably Bachelor of Science.
  • High level of initiative and demonstrated use of proactive problem solving approach
  • Excellent communication and prioritization skills
  • Must be able to work with a diverse set of stakeholders and manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Strong computer aptitude required; Access Database knowledge preferred; working knowledge of computer systems relating to Product Structure and Selection system including PCMS, CMS-80 desired.
  • Previous truck/automotive and/or manufacturing experience/product knowledge a plus
  • Engine/transmission/axle knowledge a plus
