Requisition Summary

Kenworth Truck Company is hiring a Remote Diagnostics Design Engineer. This position will support development activities in the Remote Diagnostics and Connected Truck team. The engineer will have the opportunity to provide innovative problem solving in a product development and service environment. This role will interface with production employees, production supervisors, product engineering, plant engineering, management, suppliers, and customers. The role will require collaboration with other PACCAR companies: Peterbilt, DAF, PACCAR Technical Center, Information Technology Division, Engine Support Center, and the PACCAR Engine Company.


Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Define and develop Connected Truck and Diagnostics features.
  • Perform end-to-end validation of new features; from the vehicle to PACCAR Solutions web portal.
  • Define and create interface requirements for planned enhancements to PACCAR Solutions.
  • Validate PACCAR Solutions web portal as new features are implemented.
  • Update service information as required to guarantee consistency across information platforms for end users.
  • Coordinate with other systems to ensure consistency of message to driver, fleet manager, and service personnel.
  • Validate diagnostic troubleshooting guides based on vehicle in motion data.
  • Develop service tool solutions.
  • Use Design for Six Sigma and Six Sigma techniques to manage engineering projects.
  • Occasional travel is required.


Qualifications & Skills

  • BSME required; Master's degree in business or engineering and P.E. certificate desirable but not required.
  • 5+ years of experience in the specification and design of complex automotive components required.
  • Past experience working onsite at a PACCAR facility desirable but not required.
  • Knowledge of engine and aftertreatment functions is preferred.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic trouble codes is preferred.
  • Competence in the use of personal computer software such as word processing, database, and spreadsheets.
  • Familiarity with project management methods and tools.
  • Candidate should be willing to make use of engineering processes and techniques and be resourceful in solving complex technical problems.
  • Requires independent judgment and effective project management.
  • Ability to manage costs, time and resources; strong communication skills.
