Requisition Summary

This position is responsible for the Powertrain Running Business Department at the PACCAR Technical Center, supporting PACCAR engines in North America for Peterbilt and Kenworth divisions. This includes investigating/defining warranty and customer issues for corrective action, analysis/tracking warranty claims and providing technical information and assistance to PB/KW Dealerships, PB/KW Field Service and the Engine Support Call Center.  Deliverables include warranty cost reduction, accelerating issue identification and driving the organization to implement solutions. Other responsibilities include close collaboration on current product with DAF-PD, NA Aftersales and Resident Engineering at the PACCAR engine factory.

Division Information

The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR  Inc through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington. 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Coordinate engine corrective action support activities with other PACCAR divisions, PTC departments and suppliers
  • Develop, mentor and train technical staff with multiple engineering disciplines and specific engine system and diagnostics skills
  • Develop and manage department budgets to achieve Technical Center goals
  • Prepare and deliver formal reports and presentations to all levels of the organization
  • Comfortable and capable of representing the Technical Center and PACCAR during interactions with other divisions and outside organizations
  • Propose, plan, and implement improvements in corrective action and aftersales support to meet organizational objectives
  • Other duties and activities as assigned
  • Must be flexible in role
  • Travel < 25%


  • Demonstrated supervisory or managerial experience is required
  • 10+ years of applicable experience; diesel engine design experience is preferred
  • A professional engineering license is highly desirable
  • Broad range of PACCAR experience is highly desirable
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of diesel engine systems is required; heavy truck product knowledge is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead an organization, manage resources and achieve results
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills


A BSME/BSEE is required; an advanced degree in engineering or related field is preferred
