Job Description

Requisition Summary

This position specifies and develops tests for embedded vehicle controllers.  The test developer works with requirements authors to ensure testable requirements are developed, creates test instructions in a test tracking system, and communicates the test needs to test engineers for execution in a hardware-in-the-loop environment and on vehicles.  This position communicates with multiple levels of management, external suppliers, customers, and project stakeholders.

Division Information

The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR Inc through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington. 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts projects of moderate scope with minimal supervision.
  • Interprets function requirements to develop software integration test requirements and test plans.
  • Constructs test plans in a test tracking tool
  • Ensures tests are traceable to development requirements
  • Communicates test requirements to test engineers.
  • Identifies gaps between test requirements and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test bench capabilities.  Helps specify HIL changes needed to meet test requirements
  • Determines best test method (HIL or vehicle) for maximum test efficiency.
  • Fosters good communications.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative and productive work relations with all other departments.
  • Travel up to 10%
     

Qualifications

  • Minimum three years of experience specifying and/or validating embedded control systems
  • Demonstrated ability to translate software function requirements to test specifications
  • Familiarity with Controller Area Network (CAN) operation, especially J1939
  • Experience with Matlab/Simulink
  • Experience with dSpace AutomationDesk and ControlDesk preferred
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to summarize technical issues and communicate effectively
  • Ability to manage personal workload and willingness, flexibility and initiative to respond to shifting time and project demands

Education

BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
