Requisition Summary

The Materials Planning Manager leads Kenworth Chillicothe’s materials planning organization. The position is responsible for maintaining Kenworth Chillicothe’s supply chain including planning and administration of an optimized, cost-effective flow of material into the Chillicothe factory. The Materials Planning Manager leads design, development, and implementation of programs and processes related to manage Kenworth Chillicothe materials supply chain. The Materials Planning Manager reports directly to the Materials Manager.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Manage Kenworth Chillicothe Materials Planning team.
  • Establish performance standards and objectives for the Materials and Logistics organizations that support Kenworth and PACCAR key operating objectives (Material Availability, Delivery Reliability, Inventory Management, and Profit).
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and develop strategic plans to increase productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness. 
  • Interface with Production, Customer Service, Engineering, Quality, PACCAR Purchasing and suppliers to resolve major supply chain constraints.
  • Establish and administer employee training and development plans.
  • Recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, disciplinary measures, and other personnel actions in compliance with company policies.
  • Participate in setting schedules and the preparation of written reports for management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or other related field required.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or other related field strongly desired.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and proven ability to manage people. A minimum of five years management experience.
  • Ability to foster teamwork, encourage innovation and drive for results.
  • Proven negotiation skills and excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to summarize complex issues and present solutions to senior management.
  • Understanding of production facilities, assembly operations, heavy-duty truck knowledge and SAP are strongly desired.
  • Demonstrated competency with cross-functional engagement and collaboration.
  • Working knowledge of and experience with material planning principles.
  • Understanding of Lean/Six Sigma Principles.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple demands and distribute resources accordingly. 
  • Effectively interact with employees, peers, and all levels of management.
