Job Functions / Responsibilities
 

  • Interface with plant operations teams, engineering, and other cross-functional groups to support production of class 5-8 trucks.
  • Lead cross-divisional manufacturing expertise groups for current product support, benchmarking and best practice analysis, and new product development.
  • Develop strategies for operational improvements in safety, quality, cost, and capacity.
  • Participate in ongoing operations support projects and activities.
  • Actively participate in new product development and value engineering activities. Use of Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) and Design for Six Sigma tools.
  • Prepare cost estimates using DFMA software tools.
  • Develop and implement new cost models for use with cost estimating software.
  • Evaluate supplier tooling proposals including the viability of proposed processes and tooling lineups and create Tooling Authorizations.
  • Research new and existing technologies for production use.


Qualifications & Skills
 

  • 4 year degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field required.
  • Demonstrated ability gained through 3+ years of progressively complex assignments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Proven team leadership skills. High energy level, goal oriented individual.
  • Excellent organizational, PC and project management skills. Ability to handle multiple assignments and changing priorities.
  • Strong working knowledge of process improvement methodologies.  Excellent analytical/problem solving abilities.
  • Experience with assembly operations desired.
  • Familiarity with various manufacturing processes including metal fabrication, metal stamping, composite molding, injection molding, metal casting and others used in automotive or heavy truck industries desired.
  • Ability to read and interpret design drawings. Experience with 3D CAD software desirable.
  • Training in Six Sigma DMAIC, DFSS and Advanced Quality Systems desirable.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% annually, occasionally on short notice.
