Requisition Summary

Master Black Belts are change agents for process and product quality improvements. They work as business partners with PACCAR Division Senior Managers to meet and exceed division goals.  They are responsible for identifying opportunities to deploy Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma tools and methods across our businesses and supply chains. They manage risk, set direction and lead the way to breakthrough improvements in product and process quality. 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Develop plans to deploy Continuous Improvement and Lean Six Sigma tools to achieve division goals including project identification and belt selection; seek out new opportunities for Lean Six Sigma tool deployment.
  • Manage Six Sigma project portfolio for business units.  Provide analysis and feedback to management on project activities, improvements, and savings.
  • Transfer best practices, procedures and tools to peers and other process improvement teams.
  • Mentor Dedicated Black Belts and division belts.
  • Review projects for proper DFSS, DMAIC, Lean methodology and tool usage; coach belts and project leads during all project phases.
  • Lead large projects, helping PACCAR divisions, suppliers, dealers and customers improve performance.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to recommend and implement process improvement plans .
  • Challenge conventional wisdom by demonstrating successful application of new methodologies to improve product and process quality.
  • May conduct Black Belt, Green Belt, Lean Belt, DFSS and Champion training classes; review, revise and develop training material as needed.
  • Up to 10% travel

  • Demonstrated track record of achievement
  • Strong strategic and tactical planning skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Proven project management and leadership skills
  • Strong analytical/technical aptitude
  • Ability to manage and resolve conflict
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment, and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to provide group leadership and management of human resource issues
  • In depth knowledge of PACCAR engineering, production and business processes
  • In depth knowledge of Lean Six Sigma, including advanced statistical techniques and kaizen events
  • Proficiency with Minitab and MS Office


  • 8-10 years’ experience in product/process improvement and project/program management
  • Lean Six Sigma project experience
  • Coaching and mentoring experience required; training experience desirable.
  • PACCAR engineering/manufacturing plant experience desirable

Education & Training

  • Bachelors Degree Required
  • DFSS and or Green Belt Certification Required
  • Certified Black Belt/Master Black Belt Preferred 
  • Advanced Degree or PE Preferred
  • PMP Certification Preferred
