Requisition Summary

Do you want to help shape Peterbilt’s future products?  The Vehicle Integration team is looking for a Requirements Engineer with interest in creating, defining, and launching the next generation of industry leading trucks.  Scope of work includes analysis of potential new product designs, evaluation of customer requirements, and definition of vehicle and system level targets, defining control function requirements, and validation of vehicle level improvements.  By engaging early in the product development processes to coordinate new program definition and ensure superior customer satisfaction.  This is an opportunity to use your interpersonal skills and engineering knowledge to add direction for future Peterbilt and PACCAR major programs.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Collect requirements by interacting with customers and cross-functional teams to define vehicle functional requirements
  • Build, maintain and utilize functional Simulink models to design, document and communicate vehicle and powertrain requirements
  • Track design concepts and vehicle functionality through design and testing phases, and provide support for validation activities
  • Conduct technical requirements status meetings with participating departments
  • Conduct significant interaction with Kenworth and DAF Vehicle Integration teams to deliver common, cost-efficient solutions PACCAR-wide
  • Support Vehicle Integration participation in all major and moderate engineering projects
  • Coordinate with Product Planning to understand major program Book of Wishes and identify all customer requirements which cascade into design requirements
  • Work with all Vehicle Property Owners to set project vehicle performance targets which cascade into vehicle requirement documents
  • Support development of Product Description Books for engineering projects, establishing project scope, vehicle requirements, and performance targets
  • Ensure participation and completion of Six Sigma projects
  • Support and provide feedback during Technical, Concept, and Design Reviews



Skills / Competencies

  • Experience in modeling and simulation of dynamic systems, preferably automotive background
  • Proficiency in Mathematical modeling systems such as: Mathworks Simulink/Stateflow, AVL Cruise, GT Power,etc…
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts or data in a simple-yet-accurate manner
  • Requires independent judgment and effective decision making skills
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills with the ability to prioritize work effectively
  • Creative, quality and results-driven work ethic with the ability to learn on the fly and adapt to change
  • Working knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and SharePoint
  • Knowledge in the use of Six Sigma tools Boundary Diagrams and Parameter Diagrams desired




Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Software Engineering required.
