Requisition Summary

PACCAR is looking for a person to help meet the upcoming OBD challenges in 2021, 2024 and beyond.  This person will help define and clarify PACCAR’s OBD compliance policy for emerging technology and emerging regulations.  This person researches, writes, and proposes new compliance policies to be ratified by senior management.  As PACCAR’s policy is defined and documented, this person will help explain and teach the policy throughout the corporation. This person prepares material for presentation to the regulators.  This person participates in industry efforts to define industry-wide policy positions.
This person will help to create and spread an OBD culture throughout PACCAR.

Division Information

The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR Inc through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington. 

 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Help drive an OBD culture within PACCAR
  • Become proficient on current and upcoming OBD regulations
  • Synthesize new compliance policies in novel situations by studying government regulations and PACCAR's products
  • Document and contribute to PACCAR’s OBD compliance policies
  • Manage requirements documents that explain and clarify regulations and PACCAR's compliance policies
  • Investigate current product offering, pinpoint opportunities for improvement and suggest solutions
  • Write content to be included in certification documents and during meetings with government regulators
  • Translate engineering test results and documentation into easily understandable and searchable information
  • Collaborate with American and European engineering teams to build team knowledge, assure compliance and create traceable documentation
  • Give internal presentations and occasional external presentations
  • Work with industry work groups, such as committees of the Engine Manufactures Association, to form industry-wide policies
  • Create training material, checklists, and other tools to ensure compliance with PACCAR’s policies
     

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years relevant work experience in a technical environment
  • Knowledge of truck and diesel engine technology
  • Knowledge of OBD, emissions testing, and culture of California's Air Resources Board
  • Experience creating technical documentation including preparation of simplified drawings, diagrams and routings
  • Ability to work with designers, developers, technicians and other PACCAR personnel in fast-paced system development environment
  • Preference for abstract, policy work
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to self-teach
  • Demonstrated curiosity
  • Demonstrated ability to search for improvement
  • Demonstrated flexibility under changing and unclear conditions
  • Knowledge of requirements engineering preferred
  • Infrequent travel, up to 5 weeks a year

Education

BS in relevant technical field required. Engineering degree preferred. Master's degree or 5+ years preferred.
