Requisition Summary

This position is responsible for actively supporting the development of detailed exterior and interior sight models in clay and a variety of other materials to demonstrate new product concepts.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Flexibility to work with multiple mediums to develop 3D models from form core to hard painted models.
  • Fabricate armatures for verification model development.
  • Verify or position points and sections from a clay model using a CMM.
  • Free form clay model sculpting for concept model development.
  • Develop scale and full size exterior and interior sight models for styling evaluation.
  • Manual surface cleanup of clay verification models.
  • Preparation of clay and rigid sight models to represent a production intent appearance.
  • Display the ability to rapidly respond to model or package revision request from engineering and industrial design staff.
  • Ability to lead projects with the different disciplines within the department and company.
  • Able to manage yourself and projects with little or no supervision.
  • Takes opportunity to mentor less inexperienced modelers.
  • Fast and accurate sketch modeling.
  • Proficient in the different methods of welding, MIG, TIG, Arc and gas.
  • Fabricate master patterns for mold making and production castings
  • Demonstrate mold making techniques, and efficient casting processes.

Skills / Competencies

Clay Modeling surface development experience, ability to read engineering prints, experience in recording points and sections from sight models, handles multiple tasks, takes initiative (pro-active), team player, problem solver, professional and effective communication skills (written and verbal). Excellent interpersonal skills. Strong ability to work effectively with co-workers. Minimum of eight years’ experience with clay modeling. Makes decisions in a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete information and under tight deadlines and pressure; able to make a quick decision. Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills to do the job at a high level of accomplishment. Uses his/her time effectively and efficiently; values time; concentrates his/her efforts on the more important priorities; gets more done in less time than others; can attend to a broader range of activities.
