Job Description

P&S Transportation provides students with the opportunity to have hands on experience on what it is to be an Operations Professional in a technology driven environment. We provide an accelerated internship program that engages the students by teaching them every aspect of Operations, including load planning, fleet management, reporting, safety, asset management and detention. An internship with P&S Transportation offers more than an educational experience into the fast-paced world of Supply Chain Management; it also serves as a stepping stone into a career with a company that puts Safety and Drivers first!

At P&S you will learn the importance of each of our graduate entry level positions. You will get to experience and execute each task, showcasing your talents and guiding your decision on your career.

What you will learn

Fleet Management

As a Fleet Manager, you will be able to assist with directing drivers to fitting loads, arrange vacation time for the drivers, and be their first point of contact for any employment related issues. As an intern, you will be taught the fundamentals of the fleet manager's position and the opportunity to manage your own small fleet of drivers. This position allows students to get a firsthand look at the McLeod Software and how it helps our company to be leaders in our industry.

Load Planning

As a Load Planner, you will experience creating loads for drivers to transport. In this position, you will load shipments into McLeod, communicate with customers on short pays, and resolve issues on unbilled orders.

To keep track of important business elements such as our revenue and loaded trucks, we have analysts that work daily to complete reports for the company. You will learn the importance of these reports and how to create them.

In Operations, it is very important to know the Hours of Service regulations and how they impact the transportation industry. You will also learn the importance of cargo securement and equipment maintenance and how it affects the shipment of a load and the safety of our drivers.

You will also be introduced to the detention process -- following the fees from contract rates through driver payments, gain insight into the importance of asset management and meet the Owners/ C Suite/ and other Executives.
