PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Technical Leader is responsible for providing all aspects of technical leadership to the Plant.

Reports to: The position reports to the Plant Leader and is a member of the plant leadership team. There is also a functional reporting relationship to the ISB Process Optimization Leader in Granville, OH.

Span of Control: The Technical Leader has 7-15 direct reports depending on plant size including: Manufacturing Engineers for each operating line, batch, furnace and binder areas, Quality/CI Engineer(s), Packaging and Process Engineer(s) and participants in early career development programs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Lead for An Injury-Free Environment

* Live the OC Safety Stand and adhere to Employee Safety Responsibilities
* Utilize technical knowledge to provide a safe and secure work environment for all employees, contractors and visitors

Metrics

* Recordable Incident Rate (RIR)
* Process Trial Safety Review (PTSR)
* Pre Job Hazard Analysis (PJHA)
* Safe Observation Reports (SOR)

2. Technical Excellence and Process Optimization

* Understands current manufacturing process capability and drives to reduce variation
* Ensures product quality and consistency to improve the overall customer experience
* Provides a stewardship role in ensuring ISB Manufacturing maintains process standards and leverages knowledge for rapid deployment of best practices
* Implements process development improvements from the Process Innovation Team
* Participate in the scope development and execution of all major projects, including rebuilds, to ensure safety, performance, schedule and cost goals of the projects are met or exceeded
* Shares accountability for successful delivery of all aspects of the plant operating plan with other plant leadership team members

3. Lead Across the Plant

* Drive alignment between plant departments
* Share best practices, challenge thinking and provide candid and respectful feedback; set an example for the organization of how teamwork and partnerships should work
* Be seen as a great leader across the plant, driving engagement and supporting cross-functional projects and teams
* Assist the Plant Leader with other duties as required

* Feedback from leadership, peers and direct reports

4. Leading and Developing Talent

* Create and sustain a culture where talent is developed through effective performance management and talent evaluation
* Effectively staff the organization with competent people using the appropriate mix of internal and external talent to satisfy both near-term and long-term succession needs
* Act as Development Coach for MLPs and Interns, creating the appropriate developmental experience and assuring the program outcome is achieved

5. Knowing Our Customer

* Understanding and communicating customer expectations through effective use of standard work, reporting and teams communications
* Assuring standard processes are defined and in place that reliably provide product meeting customer performance and schedule expectations
* Facilitating a culture to maintain, improve and/or develop effective customer relationships

* Schedule attainment
* Quality assurance
* Customer complaints, including service exceptions and claim dollars

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related discipline
* A minimum of 5 years progressive technical experience in a manufacturing environment, fiberglass process experience preferred
* A minimum of two years experience leading people

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

* Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt and/or Lean Manufacturing experience
* Computer skills: The ability to utilize Owens Corning systems and the software necessary for this role
* Utilizing data and data collection systems, and Six Sigma methods for problem-solving and decision-making to eliminate manufacturing losses and unnecessary costs
* Implementing strategic plans
* Impactful verbal and written communications
* Business and financial acumen
* Strong planning, resourcing and delegation skills
* Ability to engage and care for others starting with safety
* Ability to achieve results fast both individually and through teams
