Network Administrator

Position Overview

The Network Administrator is responsible for proactively monitoring performance and availability of the enterprise and data center network infrastructure within the organization. This includes specific duties in installation, administration, support, planning, documentation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the organization's network elements to ensure efficient, stable, reliable, and secure operations of our networking technologies. This position reports to the Manager of Network Engineering & Operations, and will interface with internal and cross-functional teams on network infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Network Administrators and Engineers, as well as partners across Corporate IT and the Lines of Business in order to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective and mission-critical network technology solutions
  • Assists with resolution of network calls, emails, and enters work orders into our Remedy tracking software and partners with the Network Operations Center to analyze, investigate and troubleshoot network infrastructure incident and problem management
  • Determine root cause and provide issue resolution to minimize degradation and outages within the enterprise and data center networks
  • Plan, schedule, and implement network changes in maintenance window ensuring that all changes to the network infrastructure have been tested, documented, and approved prior to implementation
  • Install, configure, support, and maintain network LAN/WAN/WLAN services, equipment and elements to include Cisco, Juniper, Arista, F5, ExtraHop, Riverbed, and Solarwinds
  • Administer VPN tunnel configurations, load balancer VIP/Pool creations/iRule creation, core routers and switches
  • Proactively monitor network performance
  • Develop and maintain procedures, documentation, lifecycle management, inventory of network infrastructure
  • Documents network problems and resolutions for future reference
  • Supports administration of data centers
  • Assist with network inventory and lifecycle management
  • Assist in or lead in the development of network infrastructure policies
  • Continually seeks opportunities to increase internal client satisfaction and deepen client relationships
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call coverage on a rotational basis

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma required
  • 3+ years in Enterprise/Production data networks supporting medium to large network infrastructures required
  • Proven experience with administration, installation and deployment of enterprise / production network switches, WAPs, load balancers and routers is required
  • Strong Layer2/3 networking skills and concepts is required
  • Experience working with Cisco and Juniper routers / switches, Arista switches, F5 Load Balancers
  • Experience in LAN/WAN protocols such as Spanning Tree Protocol, VLAN Trunking, OSPF, BGP, MPLS
  • Experience working with network sniffers
  • At least one of the following licenses and certifications are preferred:
    • Cisco CCNA (or greater)
    • Juniper JNCIA (or greater)
    • Any ITIL, Six Sigma, Microsoft MCP related to systems and networking

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Network project coordination or management
  • Skilled in using network utilities and appliances for administration and monitoring
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Good customer service skills
  • Ability to conduct research into networking issues and products as required
  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs
