Job Description

Orchard is looking for a dynamic and motivated Business Development Associate to join its growing team. Orchard is a financial technology company that is passionate about building a new foundation for global credit. Position Overview:

The Business Development Associate will work alongside the Director and Head of Business Development to identify new business opportunities and amplify Orchard's brand. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, polished and able to work quickly (yet methodically) in a fast-paced environment. The associate should possess excellent communication skills and be able to articulate Orchard's value proposition externally to the market. While they should excel independently, the Business Development Associate must also be able to expand their skills while working with top-notch talent across all areas of the business.


Sales Development

* Identify and prioritize areas of opportunity; maintain and nurture the sales pipeline
* Tenacious follow-up on all leads until conversion or disqualification
* Communicate Orchard's value proposition clearly and effectively through multiple channels including but not limited to phone, email and in person
* Schedule and handoff qualified leads to senior members of the Business Development team

Sales Support

* Gather and document information using Salesforce
* Assist with customization of intro/sales decks and proposal generation
* Assist with RFIs/RFPs

Research + Networking

* Conduct research for new opportunities and client conversations
* Prepare the Business Development team for meetings and calls
* Keep up on industry-news and share out relevant articles with the BD Team
* Identify networking events for the team to attend
* Attend and represent Orchard at local conferences and events with an eye towards networking and prospect identification


* Undergraduate degree in business or related field required
* 2-3 years experience in investment banking, specialty finance, lending or finance SaaS preferred
* Familiarity with Salesforce or a similar CRM
* Understanding of and interest in online lending / FinTech
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Experience cold-calling and cold-emailing
* Organized and detail oriented; ability to prioritize, multitask and manage time effectively
* Strong candidates will thrive in a fast-paced environment amidst a dynamic workload of competing tasks and demands
