Job Description

Position Title: Automotive Mechanic

Rate of Pay: $16.25 per hour

Position Purpose:

Inspects automotive equipment for mechanical problems to determine the corrective action necessary. This is a seasonal/temporary position, not to exceed 119 days.

Essential Functions:

* Makes major repairs to automotive equipment, including engine overhauls, tune-ups, brake alignments and adjustments, wheel alignments, transmission and differential replacements and repairs, electrical replacements and repairs, and minor body repairs.
* Operates and maintains automotive shop equipment.
* Advises in the selection and storage of automotive parts and equipment.
* Estimates the cost of automotive repairs.
* Instructs operators in the proper operation and servicing equipment.
* Performs minor welding and brazing.
* Maintains simple records and makes reports.
* Instructs and monitors unskilled assistants.
* Conducts test drives of vehicles on public streets.

Qualifications:

* Must be at least 18 years of age.
* Experienced in automotive mechanics and tools.
* Possess a valid California driver's license.
* Must be familiar with automotive safety rules and practices.
* Must be available to work all 23 days of the annual OC Fair.
* Ability to work outside the normal business day/week as required by events and programs.
