Position Title:

Parking Attendant Lead

Rate of Pay : $14.25 per hour

Position Purpose:

The Parking Attendant Lead provides leadership and guidance to Parking Attendants while carrying out the duties of a Parking Attendant. This is a temporary seasonal position not to exceed 119 days.

Essential Functions:

* Trains all Parking Attendants to ensure the safe and efficient flow of vehicle and pedestrian traffic entering and exiting fairground parking lots.
* Instructs Parking Attendants in on-the-job duties as directed by the Parking Fair Staff Supervisor.
* Monitors the work ethic of Fair Parking Attendants
* Monitors and oversees parking lot activity to ensure safety of patrons and co-workers.
* Communicates with Parking Fair Staff Supervisor, with other Parking Attendant Leads, and other department personnel in a professional manner. .
* Ability to make quick decisions on the spot.
* Communicates safety related issues/concerns to Parking Fair Supervisor
* Transports department employees and parking lot equipment in trucks and motorized carts.
* Operate department vehicles in a safe manner.
* Opens and closes parking lot gates as directed.
* Coordinates and schedules breaks for Parking Attendants.
* Assists in the training and development of Parking Attendants.
* Provides guidance to other department employees in directing the flow of incoming and outgoing vehicle traffic in both on-site and off-site parking lots.
* Provides for the safe and efficient movement of pedestrian traffic through parking lots.
* Sets up and dismantles cones and plastic/metal barricades to configure parking lots as instructed.
* Addresses customer service issues related to Parking Operations.
* Creates a healthy work environment for parking attendants and leads
* Ability to adapt to change

* Must be at least 18 years of age
* Valid California driver's license required
* Must have previous leadership experience
* Must have critical thinking skills
* Must be able to lead other employees by positive example
* Must have previous parking attendant experience
* Demonstrated excellent customer service skills
* Ability to respond with patience in difficult interactions with fair patrons required
* Excellent teamwork skills.
* Ability to follow verbal and written instructions from other leads and supervisors.
* Must be able to quickly learn the layout of the fairgrounds and general fair information.
* Must be able to follow verbal or written instructions.
* Ability to work outside the normal business day/week as demanded by events and programs.
* Must be available to work all 23 days of the annual OC Fair


* Knowledge of OC Fair Parking Operations and layout
