Job Description

The Oracle Public Cloud Control Plane is a suite of services that handles all tenant interactions with the core building blocks of the IaaS Cloud (Compute, Storage, Network) as well as the PaaS offerings (Containers, JavaCS, MySQL, DBCS, etc). This suite includes Identity, Provisioning, Metering and Quota, virtual Load Balancing, Telemetry, and much more.

Site Reliability Engineering is responsible for building the toolchain that provisions, deploys, configures, monitors, detects failures, and repairs all of the control plane services for the Oracle Public Cloud as well as runtime operations for those services. We take product software and wrap it with reliable services to create a resilient zero-downtime enterprise cloud.

We work with SDLC technologies from git to Jenkins and artifactory. We use modern infrastructure tools like rundeck, ansible, and terraform as well as a host of internally developed tools and services. We are also in the progress of creating a container delivery pipeline based on spinnaker, docker, kubernetes, Istio and Envoy (Oracle has recently joined the Cloud Native Computing Foundation as a Platinum Member).

We are looking for engineers with a mixture of software and distributed systems engineering skills in which they will work on large scale closed loop automation systems, container orchestration and runtime fabrics, a reliable service mesh as well as ElasticSearch and Graphite. We are all on call and handle production support and engineering not only for the services we build, but also for key customer facing systems that affect the quality and performance of the Oracle Public Cloud.

Desired Skills:

  • Programming in at least one of Python, Java, or Golang
  • SDLC with Github, Jira, Jenkins
  • Any experience with infrastructure management tools such as hashicorp toolchain and/or chef/puppet/ansible/salt.
  • Any container orchestration and management tools like docker, kubernetes, or spinnaker
  • Distributed systems experience like Cassandra, elasticsearch, Oracle NoSQL, or any time series databases

TO APPLY: Send your resume to college_us@oracle.com with “Site Reliability Engineer” in the subject line.
