Our experience spans two decades and includes launching and managing some of the largest charter schools in the U.S. Our services include accounting administration, marketing, curriculum development and other areas of charter school management

Options for Youth (OFY) and Opportunities for Learning (OFL) Charter Schools are free public charter schools serving students grades 7-12 who have fallen behind in school, are looking to get ahead and graduate early, or simply desire a non-traditional learning environment. We seek to provide at-risk and underserved students an alternative to traditional learning methods and environments.

General Summary:

Primarily responsible for procuring and coordinating the purchase and distribution of curriculum materials. Responsible for the selection of vendors, processing and approval of purchase orders and/or requisitions, to assure satisfactory shipment and delivery of curriculum materials. Manages various projects as assigned.

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:*

* Reviews and approves purchase orders and change notices, with strong attention to detail for accuracy and completeness.
* Interface with internal departments to clarify their purchasing needs
* Works with Curriculum Department acquires vendors, analyzes market and delivery conditions, specifications and determines quality and availability of curriculum.
* Evaluates needs of purchasing and shipping/receiving departments for implementation and maintenance of the curriculum purchasing process and systematic inventory warehousing.
* Develops and coordinates clerical/office/purchasing procedures and practices for expedient and efficient workflow.
* Mentors assistant buyer/purchasing coordinator in tactical duties, assist in training
* Maintenance of the curriculum purchasing process and systematic inventory updates, addition and correction of part numbers.
* Communicates effectively in both oral and written format.
* Gather vendor contract information for Supervisor to review.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

* Knowledge of standard purchasing practices, competitive bid procurement and negotiation.
* Excellent development and organization skills.
* Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills.
* Ability to work efficiently under pressure, while maintaining courtesy and professionalism.
* Ability to prioritize and work independently in a fast-paced, multi-task environment.
* Ability and willingness to establish and update purchasing procedures.
* Ability to exercise reasonable judgment without direct supervision.
* Working knowledge of all office machinery.
* Ability to travel as needed.
* Proficient knowledge of MS Office.
* Proficient working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite applications including, but not limited to: InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
* Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and the ability to use technology effectively.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure and demonstrate problem-solving skills, while maintaining diplomacy, courtesy, professionalism, and a customer service attitude.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

* Ability to perform the duties (as backup) for all positions in the Purchasing Department.
* Proficient knowledge of Internet usage.

Education and Experience:

* AA degree in business or related field, or equivalent work experience.
* BS/BA College degree preferred.
