Job Description

Job Summary:

A Manufacturing Probe Process Engineer with ON Semiconductor in Nampa supports manufacture and testing of Image Sensor parts. The primary responsibility of the Manufacturing Probe Process Engineer is to sustain probe processes and drive engineering issues to resolution with the objective to minimize impacts to the time it takes to successfully test a given manufacturing lot. The Probe Process Engineer will actively support the shift Probe Technicians with issues and events that occur, helping them minimize equipment downtime. The Probe Process Engineer will work with the manufacturing and Image Sensor Group Test Engineering groups to implement SPC for probe (with the desired metrics) and the procedures required to manage this system. Additionally, the Probe Process Engineer will work with those teams to support the systems in place for flags and pause bins. The long-term goal is to have a mature process in place for the probe team to monitor testing performance with the ability to troubleshoot and make improvements to the established processes.

This position will initially be a first shift position that will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, but will transition to a shift position and report to the Shift Lead Engineer.

Performance Objectives:

This opportunity will ask a student to have the following performance objectives:

* Support the shift Probe Technicians with issues that impact testing. Knowledge of the equipment (IP750 testers, Accretech Probers, ESI lasers, and Screen scrubbers) will be gained through on-the-job training and working with the equipment owners and the shift technicians.

* Build knowledge and an understanding of probe test development and work flow.

* Apply statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis skills to implement test process control charts, develop reactions to out of control/specification (OOC/OOS) conditions, and implement corrective actions.

* Develop engineering skills to evaluate probe results using statistical methods, implement solutions, and make recommendations for process improvements.

* Identify probe/test issues and work with the appropriate cross-functional teams to develop solutions

* Prepare thorough written and verbal pass-downs of shift activities, tool issues, process issues, and project status

* Create Work Instructions, BKM's, and any associated training certifications.

* Work closely with the lead engineer and production supervisor, keeping them advised of area issues and progress

* As new Probe Process Engineers are hired, the current engineer will be responsible to help in the development of the new engineers.

* U.S. Citizen

* Local candidate preferred

* Bachelors of Science Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent process engineering experience

* Understanding of statistical process control

* Excellent data summary and analytical skills

* Strong approach for troubleshooting

* Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills

* Innovative and self-motivated attitude

* Works well both independently and with teams

* Ability to follow written or verbal work instructions

* Ability to perform duties in a clean room environment

* Willingness to work any shift including weekends, nights, and holidays

* Willingness to work overtime as needed
