Work Unit Description

The nurses of the 17-bed Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) provide patient and family centered care to the patient populations of neurosurgery, neuro-medical and stroke including: subarachnoid hemorrhage, cerebrovascular aneurysms, microvascular decompression, cerebrovascular thrombosis, intraparenychmal hemorrhage, subdural hematoma, tumor resection, mysathenic crisis, aneurysm clipping, coiling, and stents.

* FTE: 1.0, Full Time
* Schedule: Evening shift, 1500-2330
* Salary Range: Commensurate with experience
* Location: Portland, OR (Marquam Hill)
* Job Type: Unclassified Administrative

Functions/Duties of Position

The Assistant Clinical Nurse Manager, in collaboration with a Nurse Manager, will be responsible for managerial and supervisory functions of a 24 hour inpatient nursing unit. Position will function primarily on evening and nightshift hours to expand managerial support to the off shifts. The Assistant Clinical Nurse Manager will partner with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure effective delivery of quality clinical patient care and compliance with administrative and clinical policies and procedures. Will perform managerial activities including performance evaluations, employee mentoring, project management and roll out of quality and safety initiatives, ensure adherence to hospital and clinical standards of performance, and human resource management.

Job Requirements


* Bachelor Degree in Nursing with an intent to return for Masters Degree within two years
* 3-5 years of current clinical experience, previous charge nurse experience
* Strong communication skills, conflict management, teamwork (demonstrated ability to build team and integrate existing teams), and experience in complex organization environments
* Ability to use and support an electronic integrated medical record
* Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License
* Current BLS and ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA (upload documentation with online application)
* Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation


* Masters Degree in Nursing
* Assistant Nurse Manager Experience and/or other nursing leadership experience
* Previous management experience, project management
* Current clinical certification in area of specialty
