Job Summary: Under general supervision of the Director of Transportation, operates a school bus over designated routes, transporting students and passengers safely and efficiently; also transports students, teachers and passengers on field trips to various locations as the home to school schedule permits; performs regular safety inspections, prepares and maintains records related to assigned activities. Education: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Prior experience in the operation of a bus or heavy motor vehicle is desirable. Licenses and Certificates Required: - Possession of a valid California Class A or B Commercial driver license with Passenger "P" and School Bus "S" endorsements; - Possession of a valid California Special Driver Certificate for school bus with no restrictions preferred except numbers "1" (automatic transmission only) and "6" (first aid test waived); - Possession of valid CPR certification and First Aid certification if first aid was waived at CHP; - Possess certification of successfully passing a DMV medical examination; - Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) driving record dated within the last 30 days of application or certification for interview; - All of the above licenses, certificates and endorsements must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.

About Ocean View School District

Ocean View School District provides a full range of services and programs to meet the needs of a diverse student population, including special education. It is the goal of the District to provide programs and services to ensure the unique needs of students are met. Consideration is given to the educational and nonacademic needs of the student based upon assessment data, teacher input, and parent input during an I.E.P. The goal of Ocean View School District is to deliver high quality, research-proven special education services by highly-qualified, skilled professionals. Ocean View School District is part of a five district SELPA (Special Education Local Planning Area.) The West Orange County Consortium for Special Education (WOCCSE) includes: Ocean View School District Fountain Valley School District Westminster School District Huntington Beach City School District Huntington Beach Union High School District These five districts have joined together to provide special education programs and services to students with special needs. The districts developed a local plan that explains how state and federal laws relating to special education are implemented. A copy of this local plan is available for public review at the District office and at the office of the West Orange County Consortium for Special Education located at 5832 Bolsa, Huntington Beach. The Special Education Local Community Advisory Committee (SE LCAC) is composed of parents of individuals with exceptional needs, educators, and community representatives who meet at least four times during the school year. This committee determines its own leadership and agenda with professional staff providing information and support. They review programs and procedures and make suggestions for improvements that will benefit students with special needs.
