Job Description

The intern position is an opportunity for an Engineering student to gain real world experience in chemical/manufacturing environment, while concurrently providing benefit to the Oatey Company by performing a variety of engineering tasks in either in Project or Manufacturing Engineering environment. This position will be involved with, but not limited to, improvement activities, new product introduction, updating procedures and documents, working the production floor and vendors on equipment improvements, and other aspects of production.

Position Responsibilities

Participate in 6S/LEAN activities to support manufacturing initiatives and improve production efficiencies by optimizing work flow, machine layout, reduce scrap, reduce labor, and decrease equipment downtime.

Assist Engineering and Quality team on new product launch process.

Assist Safety Team in leading improvement projects to meet our EHSS goals.

Assist the Engineering Department in process improvement activities. Exercises good judgment and communication to insure,

coordinate, conduct, and follow-up on engineering directives and projects.

Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge and Experience

Required

Working knowledge of MS Office applications and familiarity with AutoCAD. Participate in continued education where needed to maintain and/or develop skill sets.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interaction with employees, vendors, and contractors.

Organizational, analytical, detail-oriented, and multi-tasking skills with ability and willingness to seek out information when needed to insure successful machinery operation.

Education and Certification

Minimum of 2 years undergraduate education towards a 4-year degree in Engineering discipline.
