JOB POSTING

Appointment Type: Fulltime Temporary

PURPOSE: The SAWD Comprehensive Internship Program (SCIP) identifies and selects new college graduates for a 12-month internship that will develop workplace skills relevant to ORAU's Scientific Assessment and Workforce Development program. When interns complete the program, they will be prepared to compete for full-time employment with ORAU or other entities that administer similar programs or pursue careers in other domains of science.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Communications and public outreach activities- intern is responsible for writing about Research Participation Programs and Workforce Development Activities for a non-technical audience. The intern writes news articles, feature articles, participant stories, web content and other items in the style used by major newspapers and magazines. Responsibilities include reading scientific papers, interviewing staff and participants, writing, rewriting, and compiling information for presentations, reports, and acquiring illustrations.
* Information management and principles of peer review.
* Learn the functions of support group operations
* Learn the principles of research participation program management
* Other interdisciplinary activities as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Junior/Senior undergraduate in an accredited college or university in English, Communications Media, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Finance, or any STEM discipline. High school diploma and 2-4 years of job related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience performing duties as described may be substituted for the minimum requirements.

Preferred Requirements: Junior/Senior undergraduate in an accredited college or university in English, Communications Media, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Finance, or any STEM discipline or the candidate will have completed the requirements for the degree before beginning the internship, and the degree must have been earned within the preceding 12 months. Excellent writing skills, capable of working in a fast-paced environment, meeting regular deadlines and handling multiple projects simultaneously.
