Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Intern role is responsible for taking direction from the configuration management supervisor and other Requirements Engineers for the purpose of importing data from a variety of document formats into the DOORS requirements management database. The ideal candidate is proficient with the ability to evaluate each document to be imported, estimate time to complete the task, ensure quality of transformation, and report back to the original document owner in a prescribed follow-up format. The candidate is expected to contribute to detailed instructions to ensure standard mechanisms for importing data in to the DOORS tool. When proficiency is gained, additional engineering support tasks are assigned.


* Import data into the DOORS database from a variety of sources, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Rich Text Format, Adobe PDF, and in rare cases, the use of optical character recognition (OCR) software.
* Analyze each document to be imported into DOORS for any challenges, estimate time to complete.
* Be able to perform quality checks between the original document and the DOORS database content with a high degree of accuracy.
* Assist Requirements Engineers as needed, balancing priorities, reporting status, and contributing to the overall efforts of the NuScale team.
* Identify any grammatical, typographical and translation errors and make suitable notes to the DOORS database without affecting the original engineering content.
* Quickly learning the DOORS tool with direction from the requirements management team.
* Identify problems early to the Engineering support Supervisor or delegate.
* Contribute to detailed instructions in the area of document importing as lessons are learned.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

* Education: Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate engineering, or related degree program.
* Experience: A minimum of two years advanced experience using MS Word, Excel.
* Preferred skillsand/or experience include:
* Requirements Management experience in a regulated industry.
* Experience with various scripting languages for creating tools in aiding the data transformation process.
* Knowledge of relational database concepts.
* Experience using the IBM Rational DOORS tool.

* Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
* Overall Job Knowledge and Performance:Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills, with an emphasis on coordinating conflicting demands and priorities.
* Skills: Good technical writing skills. Good communication, computer, and interpersonal skills. Exceptional organization skills. Independent work ethics.
* Quality Assurance: Demonstrated understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1.
